A 30-year-old woman has a long history of a swelling in the anterior part of her neck, but the lump has recently become larger and harder. A physical examination shows an enlarged thyroid gland. During surgery, the nerve that pierces the thyrohyoid membrane is cut. Which of the following would most likely occur as a result of this injury?

A. Aspiratory distress
B. Hoarseness
C. Impaired movement of the hyoid bone
D. Impaired movement of the tongue
E. Spasm of the muscles of the larynx

I will not post it if it will be so easy ...

Option A (Aspiratory distress) is correct. The internal laryngeal nerve, a branch of the superior laryngeal nerve of the vagus nerve (CN X), travels through the thyrohyoid membrane and supplies the mucous membrane of the upper part of the larynx. This area is extremely sensitive, and contact with foreign bodies causes an immediate explosive cough. If this nerve is damaged, food may enter the lungs and cause aspiratory distress.
