To drhimanshu, regarding amino acid NBME q - neutrophil
#1
CFTR consists of a single peptide chain with transmembrane segments and extracellular and intracelluar regions.Which of the folowing peptide segments of CFTR is most likely located in transmembrane segment?

a.Asp-Val-Leu-Thr-Glu-Lys-Glu-Ile
b.Glu-Glu-Thr-Glu-Glu-Glu-Val-Gln
c.Ile-Phe-Val-Leu-Ile-Trp-Cys-Leu
d.Lys-Ile-Lys-His-Ser-Arg-Gly-Arg
e.Ser-Thr-Gly-Ala-Gly-Lys-Thr-Ser

ur response was

well proteins which r either part of membrane or need to be secreted , only go posttranslation modification
n proteins which r rich in serine and threonin becomes part of transmembrane segment
so answer is definately E
im fully sure

but although serine and threonine are post-trans modif by RER they are hydrophilic and polar but uncharged. so will they be inside memb? I doubt.
