a 74 yr old man has a cough.on auscultation the right posterior chest the pts spoken "ee" sound like "ay",which of the following condition is most likely?

a.lower lobe consolidation
b.pleural effusion
c.pneumothorax

answer given at the end is consolidation.
i could not get that what does means by sound"ay",i know in consolidation vocal resonance and vocal fremitus is increased.

can somone explain please.thanks.

that's called egophony. ee sounds like ay, it's indicative of consolidation, "airless lung".
