women over 35 years of age are at increased risk of giving birth to a child with Downs syndrome. However, screening programs for mothers over age 35 detect most Downs syndrome pregnancies in women of this age group. Because of this fact and the lower total numbers of births to women over age 35, MOST CHILDREN WITH DOWNS SND ARE BORN TO WOMEN UNDER AGE 35.

its a interesting point. :O) so as i understood this question, it is true that mothers above 35 have more risk of haven a child with down´s syndrome, but more women below age 35 are having children...

iam thinking that fertility bt 35-45 is more than above 45. may be chances of downs is more after 45, more children are born to women above 35..
