infant with jaundice - ricolx1000

i have heard about that case.

DD:

psychological jaundice ( firsts 5, it get betterr in 2 weeks )
breast milk jaundice ( after 7th day no more than 1, 1/2 months )
congenital spherocity anemia ( familal history, short of breath, fatigue, irritability )
cephalohematoma
G6PD deficiency
polycitemia ( small babies, twins )
congenital CMV, RUBELLA( DEAFNESS ),HERPS, TOXO, SYPHILIS. ( mother with STD )
congenital hypothyroidism: big tongue
neonatal hepatitis
biliary atresia: dark urine, light stools


workup:

physical exan
cbc, combs test
total bilirubin levels
reticulocyte count
LDH
blood smear
u/s abdome

pretty much the same questions of every ped case but ask about breast feeding, STD for the mother and tongue and head size.

I never heard of PSYCHOLOGICAL jaundice. I think it's PHYSIOLOGICAL
