It refers to acute appendicitis where the patient refuses to touch food..so refuses to touch hamburger..no joke!

well something even more amusing then the hamburger sign is the chandhlier sign which is present in women who have pid/cervicitis..touching the cevix during a vaginal exam makes the patient jump up with pain(or joy if she is kinky) to grab at the chandhlier!
