mc organism causing neumonia in nursing home - elbamaritza

most common organism for nosocomial pneumonia in a nursing home ward:

a.staph aureus
b.pneumococci
c.pseudomonas
d.klebsiella
e.e coli

well i have to go back to my neumology notes for step 2 ck (kaplan step 2 notes)

1. mcc of neumonia in HIV...strep neumonia
2. mcc of neumonia in nursing home...strepneumonia
3. mcc of neumonia in cystic fibrosis...pseudomona4.mcc of hospital aquired or ventilator associaded neumonia is Gram negative bacilly like E coli another enterobacteriaceae or pseudomonas.


know the predispositons as follows that can change the bug
a. smokerrs, copd...haemophilus influenzae
b. young and healthy...mycolasma
c. older smokers, air conditioning systems, infecter water sources...legionella
d. HIV positive with cd4 less than 200 an not on prophilaxis...pneumocystic
e. exposure to animales...coxiella
f. alcoholics...klebsiell
g. after viral syndromes or viral bronchitis especilly infoluenza ( over-infection) staphylococus auresu
