Defination of Solitary Pulmonary Nodule ( SPN)= Coin lesion on CXR:
Diameter Less than 3cm + Isolated rounded or spherical opacity in CXR + surrounded/outlined by normal pulmonary tissue without any feature of collapse, infiltrate + No Lymphadenopathy. D/D: of SPN- common causes are 1. Bronchogenic carcinoma , metastasis to lung, Lymphoma; 2. Tuberculoma & Histoplasmosis for endemic regions; 3. Aspergilloma; 4. Traummatic; 9.Congenital Parameters to be noted for a SPN: are size shape margin Internal architecture fat tissue inside patteren of calcifications. Another term is Pulmonary pseudo nodules- can be seen in 1. rounded atelectasis; 2. Pul scarring; 3. fluid in interlober fissure; 4. Healing of a #ed rib; 5.
