a pt witha history of htn and MI 2 years back..presents with 6 hr back onset of right arm weakness and slight motor aphasia..sensory is normal...most probable cause is??? his bo now is 165/75

this is a UW question.. I did yesterday.

stroke... due to htn...
affects basal ganglia and internal capsule...

Lacunar Infarction
The principal cause is HYPERTENTION

Pure motor Hemiparesis:
Lacunar infarction in post Genu of Internal Capsule, presents with unilateral motor deficit (face, arm and some leg);mild dysarthria(poorly articulated speech);NO sensory or visual dysfunction
