Yes you are right
Programs have such software filters which filter candidates based on SCORES, VISA requirements, Research, USCE, US LORs, Publications, Additional qualifications etcc
But these filters are "intelligent".
we would explain with example what we mean from intelligent
suppose the program score cutoff is 85 but if the candidate has no visa issue his cutoff might get relaxed to 82 if similar candidates has USCE and publication he may still qualify depsite he has score in 70s etc . however another person who needs visa and has no publication, USCE might not qualify despite having similar score to first candidate.
you guys must have read the statement in program requirements of many residency programs that score cutoff is lets say 80 but they claim that they consider the application as a whole.
The explanation of that claim is precisely as we described above
we hope it might help some of you while preparing your CAF, PS
we would advise that you should work on every section of your application very carefully because when PD and residency selectio committee selects someone for interview each and every thing matters
so work on every aspect your application. make your application look flawless
pay particular attention to description of your work experience.
If a candiadte A has worked in some less well known hospital but he has given an excellent description of his work and a candidate B who has worked at a good hospital but he fails to describe his work experience in a proper way or has spelling or grammatical errors in his CAF or CV. while getting slected for interview candidate A might get an edge over candiate B
ERAS and MATCHING process is basically selling yourself ... one who can present himself well will get hired eventually... for IV calls besides your scores and credentials your presentation matters alot. So work on complete package
