The correct answer is C. Unfortunately, males age
15“24 have a relative risk of death of > 2.5 compared
to same-age females. Mother nature has a way of making
up for boys and young men dying: more males are
conceived than females. However, the miscarriage
rate is also greater for male fetuses. Nonetheless,
about 105 males are born in the U.S. for every 100
females. By age 35, enough males have died off that
the number of males and females that age is about
equal, and thereafter the number of females exceeds
the number of males.
