Can any one help me?
How do you treat the close contacts of a child with meningitis? (considering children, adults, vaccinated, unvaccinated)

meningitis and emperical antibiotic regime
1- in children;listeria monocytogenes-ampicillin and cefotaxime
2-in hospitalized pat.-s.aureus and pseudomonas-vancomycin(to cover s,areus) and ceftazidime (to cover pseudomonas )
3 pneumcocci-vancomycin and ceftraxone

old age and immunocompromised
ceftrixone+vancomycin+ampicillin (listeria)
adults and children....vancomycin+ceftrixone
children less than 3 months ...cefotaxime+ampiciilin
after surgery... iv ceftazidime+ampicillin

Thanks everyone but my question was about emperic treatment of close contacts of the child with meningitis. I could not even find this on the CDC website. Could anyone comment? thanks
