I see that you made some earlier postings, and that you're in the UK. Hope the following will be helpful to you:
I'm in Glasgow (SHO in Paediatric Neurology). Haven't done step 2 yet but am planning to later this year. Did step 1 in July 2004 and passed with a score that is above average (90/223). The whole thing was quite stressful (I was also working in the hospital 52 hours/week in the months leading up to the exam). My impression is that step 1 is harder to study for than step 2; that's why I did it first. I am a little more optimistic about step 2 because I use much of the material day-to-day.
If you have any advice for me about step 2, and how it relates to UK medical finals, I'd be grateful. From what I understand, there's much more deeper knowledge requires in obs/gyn in the USMLE. Can you verify this?
