all your information are right.i know some foreign physicians that took their RN degree online and after that applied for online nurse practiotioner (all together around 2.5 years).
but there is a new program that accepts fmg for nurse practitioner and it is online.
i blieve you have to take some prerequisites first which may take 6 months.
actually my opinion is the first way is better,more trustable and shorter and as soon as you recieve your RN degree it will help you make good money and work in hospitals and make some connections with programs.
both pa and np cost much.something around 50 to 60.000 $
