Hi mamu1,sorry for the late reply..just saw ur post.If I understand you correctly, you need to contact the program administrator for J1 visa{call them up or e-mail} visa to ask for the list of specialities which would be considered needed in your province. The e-mail address is : j1visa@hc-sc.gc.ca
I am not sure about Alberta but almost all residencies are considered needed in Ontario.The residency will have to be ACGME accredited{all residencies in the US are, I think..plz correct me if I am wrong}to be recognised in Canada. For independant licensure after a US residency, in Alberta, plz contact your Alberta licensing board{in Ontario it is CPSO-College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario...by the same token, I guess ,it would be CPSA in Alberta. Just google it and contact them. Hope this helps.
