Canadian PR, J1 stamping? - med2004
#1
Hello all,

I am a Canadian PR, but got my SON from India. I was wondering if I can get my J1 stamped in my passport from Canada? or do I need to go to India to do that?

Thanx

If you are canadian permanent resident ,how can you apply for DS2019 on the basis of SON from India . As on J1 app of ECFMG ,u ve to clearly mention the country of legal permanent residence. If yr country of permanent residence is canada ,you need son fron Canda .

Please confirm this .This is just my thought .

hi guys.....i need to knw more too about this process.....iam planning to apply for 2010,

i had heard that since we have PR ,the applying from home country ( in my case india ) is not an option( just hearsay, so not sure if that is true! )

so med 2004 , have u confirmed if it is ok for you to get a SON from india ( do look into it...) also iam pretty sure if u have SON from india u cant apply for J1 from canada , so do research this issue before u go ahead with the whole process....
also i knw the fact that if u have to apply for SON from canada u need to clear the EE exam ......

anyways if there is anyone who has gone thru the process,or could shed a light on this aspect plz do so......appreciate the info.......Smile

well, Yes I know about getting the SON from Canada, and doing the EE exam...I was out of time to do that...and since my passport carries my permamnent address as India, and I would like to go to India to complete the 2 year outside rule after J1...I got my SON from India..

I have a residency in another country, apart from these 2...so its pretty messed up....but I did what I thought was the best option...

Well, now will have to wait and see if they give me the J1...becoz I know people who go over to canada without a PR(on a visit) and get their J1 stamped there too...so i wonder if it would be a problem for me...

smivc,who's ur source of info?

any thoughts??
