Dear all:My bf, a certified IM training in the best university hospital in our country. Passed step 1 (92), CK(94), and CS. Cz compulsory military service (as a medic) and IM training, cutoff 5yrs. no USCE. Is there any chance for surgery?

5 Year cut off is waived off by most programs if the person is practice of clinical medicine and if he can explain the gap

He has decent scores and he would be a strong candidate for IM

It wont be wise to apply in any other specialty than IM

FM and Psych Can be Options but we would advise in your particular case to focus on IM

Why we are saying that FM and psych PDs like to see genuine interest (through research, observership, externship) in that specialty

For applying into multiple specialties your bf has to present a profile which can be justified in multiple specialties which would increase chances slightly for FM and Psych but would decrease chances of IM to a greater extent

So better be Master of ONE than being JACK of many
