J1 visa delayed - japan21

Hi,
I've started the process to get J1 visa late. I might tentatively go for my visa appointment last week of July.
Will there be any issue at the consulate because of the delay?

My program director can give me a letter explaining to the consulate the reason for the delay. Would this be enough at the consulate when attending the interview and at the port of entry?

Has anyone been in a situation like this before?

I really appreciate any help you can provide in this matter.

I will be going for a J1 visa IV 2 mos after the start of my resi pgrm. Although my contract says that I shld join w/in 60 days my PD has allowed me to join late. Will the expired contract cause any pbs during the J1 visa IV in Mumbai?? I hv my DS-2019 and I believe thats what the visa officer is interested in.

Any1 who appeared for a J1 IV - did the visa officer asked you for ur contract or ds2019 or both?
