is there any rule that we cannot do externship in california, without california letter.?

one of my uncle is a relative in acommunity hospital in ca, and when i asked him he asked me to come to his clinic , is that ok?

Yes it is okay. The californal letter is for residency. You can go do observership anywhere in California but I understand that technically, true externship is not allowed in California. You can maneuver around it though. You can still have a great experience and report that as a clinical rotation without calling it externship.
