Q********abc - samomcos
#1
an 18 y.o. female, sexually active for the first time complains of vague lower abdominal discomfort and pain on urinating. her mid-stream urine sample is taken for culture and sensitivity, and the causative organism is isolated. the microbiologist would most likely define this organism as:
1. gram positive cocci in clusters that are coagulase positive
2. gram positive cocci, that are novobiocin resistant
3. gram positive cocci, that hydrolyzes hippurate
4. gram negative rod that forms iridescent green colonies on EMB agar
5. gram negative rod that produces a rotten egg smell
6. very small gram negative pleomorphic organisms

yeah, of course E-cloi is the most common cause of UTI in general, including honeymoon cystitis. I completely forgot the " iridescent green colonies on EMB agar" thing ........ damn .... That's why I hate micro !
