An asymptomatic 53 year old male goes out and buys 6 heme-occult test from the drug store. 1/6 is hemeoccult positive. He comes today to your office and shows you this result. No family hx of colon cancer. Vitals normal. Physical exam is insignificant. Which of the following you want to do next for this patient?

a. colonoscopy
b. Repeat FOBT now
c. Repeat FOBT in 6 months
d. Give him FeSO4
e. Tell him not to worry and go home.

repeat now. food and other substances can affect the results. if 3 FOBT are positive, colonoscopy is warranted.

a colonoscopy

pt is 53 years old,no matter occult positive or negative should go for colonoscopy.
