HI I HAVE A QUESTION...AGAIN Smile.....

WHAT ARE THE RULES WITH USING CT WITH CONTRAST COMPARED TO PLAIN CT?

KAPLAN RARELY MENTIONS CONTRAST AND ITS ALL OVER THE PLACE IN CRUSH...VERY CONFUSED!

in the case of CNS: use CT with contrast in the case of contrast/ring enhancing lesions such as tumors and infections, and use plain CT to rule out/in blood (hematomas/CVA)

CT without contrast is used in cases where intracerebral hemorrhage is suspected for examlpe in work up for stroke. CT with contrast is used in demonstrating other space occupying lesions of the CNS
