The correct answer is (A).
Glycosuria (with a normal blood glucose concentration), proteinuria, and
hyperchloremic acidosis constitute evidnence of proximal renal tubular dysfunction
(type II renal tubular acidosis RTA). Frequent nocturia, presumably resulting from an
Impaired ability to concentrate urine, also suggests renal insuffienciency caused by
Tubulointerstitial disease. Multiple myeloma may present in this manner, and similar
Renal abnormalities may be associated with analgesic abuse and Sojogren™s syndrome, such as
Diabetic nephropathy, or membranous glomerulonephritis.
