Does experience help? - ashepard
#1
I am a medical student from outside the US, about to graduate. I plan on taking the USMLE sometime within the next year, but I have currently been offered a job. I would like to know if job experiences in my home country are helpful in finding employment or matching/residency opportunities in the US, or, when I go to the US, I start with a 'clean slate' so to speak?

Thanks for any help in this matter!

IF you have a residency or experience in your home country, it will no doubt increase your chances of matching in the US. Another thing you can try doing is to maybe seek research, observation or volunteer opportunities at US hospitals during your time off or perhaps after you finish your job.

Good luck
