FM or Psych?

I am interested in applying for IM. But I would like to apply for FM or Psych as back up as I am an IMG & have average scores & I am desperate to match.

From my point of view FM is a little bit tougher than Psych but I am not sure. Which is more better among FM & Psych in terms of salary, fellowship options, potential for bright future in coming yrs. Can we work as a hospitalist (inpatient) after doing FM?

FM and psych are almost of same competitiveness howver certain factors give one more chances as:
-previous experience in psych as externship or residency back hme make it easier for you to get interviews and match.
-connections in psych have a good role in getting invites
-good scores gives you more chances in FM

1-Psych is more competitive but it is not score dependent, ie you may gain more interviews than what a double 99 get if you have a good cv.

2- yes FM physicians can work as internist whether in hospitals or nursing homes. they can admit their own patients and treat them as any specialist but they deal with wider age groups including performing ob/gyn procedures.
