When I try to select the programs and assign my documents, it shows PGY-1 Categorical for some programs. Can anyone explain this please?

In internal medicine?

I saw some IM programs like that and checked Frieda and found they are accredited for 3yr.
So I think they just want to be separate from Prelim IM.

categorical programs go for three years, e.g., IM it's three years
prelim - you do one year then shift to another specialty that u like, ex. neuro
