why is there hypokalemia in diabeties insipidus - 1128

one of the consequences of hypokalemia is diabeties insipidus.....how can hypokalemia cause diabeties Insp?

Hypokalemia REDUCES the expression of aquaporin channel-2 in the same way as lithium would.....

ADH INCREASES the expression of this channel...

thus hypokalemia and lithium cause Nephrogenic diabetes Insipidus.... (DI does not cause hypokalemia...its the other way around)

Central DI and Nephrogenic DI cause hypokalemia (with increased urine flow rate ) as CHRONIC hypokalemia cause NDI (not CDI ) due to resistance in AQ channels .
