Why IgM before IgG? - usmlepass
#1
1.We all know that Activation of B Cell produces IgM ahead of IgG, but has anyone wondered why?
2.How does it relate to somatic hypermutation and affinity maturation of B Cells that occurs in lymph nodes?
3. How does this explain why booster doses are more effective than the initial vaccine?

Threading through the pathophysiology of B-Cell activation and Ig Production will cement this immunology concept in our minds better.

A mture B cell has only IgM and IgD on it. It goes through class switching to produce IgA, IgG, IgE. That's why.
