I remember the prof in Kaplan video said, the presence of heart murmurs in systolic or diastolic phase depends on the direction of blood flow. For example,

- aortic, pulmonary valves: normally, blood flow through these valves happens in SYSTOLE, so in the normal state, these valves must be widenly opened enough. If not -> stenosis -> systolic murmurs. (vice versa for regurgitation)

- mitral, tricuspid valves: normally, blood flow through these valves happens in DIASTOLE, so in the normal state, these valves must be widenly opened enough. If not -> stenosis -> diastolic murmurs. (vice versa for regurgitation)

Good luck.

Systolic is Ms. As (Mitral regurg and Aortic stenosis ) --> Pronounce it Mr. Ass
Disatolic is Ms. Ar (Mitral stenosis and Aortic regurg) --> Diastolic is just flipped around of systolic !
