hello there,
in kaplan notes physio page 280, the table says cushing's disease(pituitary cause) is not associated with hyperpigmentation but Dr.Fisher video shows the reverse( associated with hyperpigmentation) which is right?
Does cushing disease associated with hyperpigmentation because of increase in ACTH as the case with Addison's disease?
Thanks

inc ACTH causes hyperpigmentation.
cortisol has feed back mechanism for ACTH secretion.

in cushings disease its the increased ACTH, frm pituitary, which is responsible for inc cortisol. ACTH causes hyperpigmentation. in this....

in cushings syndrome, increased cortisol causes suppresion of ACTH, .....no pigmentation.

in CAH, deficiency of 21 OH......absence of cortisol....no feed back......inc ACTH......hyperpigmentaion.
