Dinner b4 interview - rocket

How important is it to attend the dinner before the interview? I can not attend the dinner because of my scheduled interviews on consecutive days in different states (NY and Phily). what impact will it have on my chances of securing a position.

hey
if you consider yourself an average person with nothing to stand you out of the crowd,your chances of being highly ranked decreases by not attending the dinner.
why?
because if your level is average they ll look at all the minute details when makin the rankin list,including here the social events that you theoretically did not attend.
is very important this social event cause next day the residents will tell pd: i liked him,he is ok, or i did not liked him..and so on.
so is your choice,but if i where you ,if i can t attend ,i ll try to reschedule.
if this does not work you can go to interview with only one condition: pay a second time visit to that program(of course after you impressed them during interview)
otherwise don t spent your money in vain...
