Is it gamma-carboxylation(addition of HOOC)? or a hydroxylation rxn?

I am thinking of hydroxylation reactions.............>hydroxylation of lysine in collagen synthesis?

right Smile

First slide: Amino acid "Glutamate"

Addition of "Carboxyl group"(COOH) by the process called "Gamma-Carboxylation"

to produce
Second slide: "Carboxyglutamic acid"

*A Post-translation Modification needed for "Vit-k dependent Clotting Factors"(II, VII, IX, X, protein C and S)

*This modification Increases the affinity for "Calcium Attachment" to the carboxyglutamic acid residue , which is essential for the activity of these proteins.
