Applying to both IM and FM in the same program?? - sm123

I have heard from one of my friend that FM dept checks with their IM dept to see weather the candadate has applied to them also before they send intv invite.
Any idea about this? As I am planning to prepare the list and was thinking should i keep this in mind while preparing the list or not?

I fell into this trap. Many programs have a residency coordinator that works with multiple programs. Yes if u apply to one of these with multiple applications your app will be thrown out.

there is always a risk of the programs discovering.... either at the interview stage when you do a hospital tour and visit common departments etc.
The risk is there, you have to evaluate the risk and decide on a program by program basis.
