My situation: step1 77, step2 CS pass, is studying step2ck.
Will I have a chance for residency? Do I need to take step3 before applying residency program?

well first of all do u need a visa??

also u need to hv ur step 3 if u need an H1 visa...
but then u can apply for the residency before that... u just need to hv ur step 3 later...
though it gives u lil edge to apply with ur step 3 scores, but then u can always take it later ( shud hv ur result by match..)

but sm programs r thr which want u to hv ur step 3 result at the time of interview.. so that ull hv to find out... i know one program,,, harlem hospital,NY ( for IM)

Thank you very much for your input. I do not need H1 visa. But I think I need to do research job or observership. Please advise me how and where I can get these jobs.

u can write to faculty working in ur field of interest, its nice to set up a meeting time. prhaps then u can talk more about available post-doc positions ur long term goals etc etc. GL
