I think it is too later now for me, I just found out one of my reference writers put in the letter specifically the letter is for the fellowship, but I actually told him long back I am applying for the residency, would this letter be a negative impact on my application?

I would assume it could be impacting your application. It has to be specific to the field you are applying for the best outcome.

thats down side of waving letters. some attending are too busy and it is easy to assign lors to the wrong specialty. well, if u have got iv, relax...if not, that might b a reason...still, bot a biggy since it is not like asigning im letter to ped or else. gl
