if a patient has assigned a health care power of attorney and also has a living will signed...
if the healthcare proxy contradicts to the living will,which over rides the other??

Here is what Dr Steven Daugherty says:

Health power-of-attorney is the highest source for making decisions and beats all other decision rules. But there are 2 situations where you don't follow it:

1. If the patient himself/herself tells you not to follow that designated power-of-attorney

2. If the power-of-attorney contradicts the living will, especially on end-of-life issues, then you go with the living will.

if it is not a life saving issue then we are obliged to follow the instructions of power of attorney ,right???
