everyday I open NRMP and stare at it and change the list then rechange it
i personally do not like new york very much although this is where the program with H1B visa is

I feel J1 visa is better as there are more fellowships available on this visa.
If you plan to stay on in USA, then H1b visa would be better.

I know for sure that you cannot change from J1 visa to any other - you have to go back for 2 years
Do not know whether you can change from H1b to J1 for fellowship.

There are not J1B visa. But as long a you get the job, the visa problem resolve by itself when you get an attending position
