Quick Q for you: If you have a patient who is infected with a spore-forming bacteria, you will often not find spores in specimens that you take from those patients.
Do you know why?

Coz spores have germinated to release toxins

That's good for spores that already existed. But new spores are not formed because the bacteria now have a better supply of nutrients. Spores are usually formed in response to adverse conditions.
