I did both. But basic stuff becomes much more clear after Kaplan. Again I did both but I started with Kaplan and Fischer's cases I saw them during my last few anxious days and it became clearer to me only because Kaplan set the base inside my head.

I would strongly suggest you to first focus and understand Kaplan and then if you even read any Ethics book you would easily understand what that other book is saying.
