J1 visa for Canadian Citizen - thinktank

Hi,

After we receive the DS2019 from the TPL of our program, does Canadian citizen need to have an appointment at the US consulate/ embassy in Canada in order to obtain the J-1 visa.

Or...Canadian citizens could carry the DS 2019 and obtain the J1 visa at any US Ports of entry/US Borders?

I forgot to add that I am in Canada now, so I don't need to change my status in the US. Also, I have never been on a J-1 visa in the past.

Canadian citizens also need to get the J1 stamped on there passport. also after getting the visa stamped you are still suppose to carry DS 2019 with you at port of entry.
