1. an unimmunized 2-yr old girl is brought to the emergency department after having a generalized tonic-clonic seizure. She has had a fever and an upper respiratory tract infection for the past 4 days. A gram stain of cerebrospinal fluid shows numerous gram-negative coccobacilli. Which of the following vaccines would be most likely have prevented this infection?

a) DTP
b) Hib
c) Meningococcal
d) Pneumococcal
e) Salmonellal

In the answerd key says that the answ is B... but I think that may be meningococcal bc also causes meningitis in unnimmunized px, and is a coccobacilli... pls correct me if Im wrong.

@kath if you see the age of child is 2yrs and she is unimmunised so H. influenza is most common cause in this age group..

If the same Q was asking in adult age then C could have been the right answer as Meningococcus is seen in adults and it is 2nd M.c cause of meningitis in adult..
