clinical research does not help filling the gaps, if you are not licensed MD, you cannot perform PE, you cannot assess AE etc, USCE determined by what you actually perform. If that practice feels comfortable to let unlicensed physicians perform PE, treat etc (as long as they have malpractice insurance), it might be considered USCE assuming all the local laws allow that in the first place.

Research is overrated for the average applicant applying to IM / FM --> many times it doesn't lead to contacts especially for the passive type of person


unless you are doing the research in your own program ie contacts to get into that programs residency or you are a seeking a surgical residency, research is not imperative.

Go ahead and look at the IMGs from mid tier to upper tier programs, more often than not, fresh graduates, great scores, from historically high performing International Medical Schools.

MA, research etc many pathways to gaining residency.

However, for the 250+ 250+ high performing applicant who will probably overachieve in their research it will open up many doors.

I've seen so many of my friends do research, and come out of their 1 or 2 year experience with 1 publication. You are doing it wrong or have the wrong PI if you aren't publishing a lot!

Clinical research does help in building contacts. It is anyway better than the private practice that the OP is trying to advertise as being helpful. @zlatka81 is totally incorrect by claiming that it can be USCE. USCE has to be in a hospital where training takes place, anybody that tries to convince you otherwise is selling you garbage.
