how to differentiate choledochal cyst from biliary atresia?

idk about the cyst..sorry!

but i know biliary atresia can be congential or acquired;
congential--give phenobarbital for one week and then HIDA scan to look for the gallbladder and failure to visualize it--confirms dx.

acquired--ie Vanashing bile duct syndrome---due to PBS--primary biliary sclerosis (think women who has jaundice and pruritus at night along with xanthelasmas and positive for antimitochondrial Abs.)
