Corticl or Subcortical(internal capsule) stroke??? - dermat
#1
UWORLD says there is gaze palsy in basal ganglial hemorrhage or in thalamic hemorrage but as far as i know subcortical lesions dont give gaze deviation, aphasias, visual field defects!
And these features help us in distinguishing Cortical from Subcortical lesions

Can anybody please throw light on this...
I really appreciated the help!
Thanks to ALL

sure pal!
In basal ganglial or thalamic lesions specially hemorrhages, the hematoma certainly extends to involve the near by structure i.e. Internal Capsule in both the cases plus Rostral midbrain in case of thalamic hemorrhage.
Midbrain( affects vertical gaze center,EW Nucleus and Pretectal area thereby afecting gaze and causing miosis)

This is it!
I hope it helps Smile
