Primary Vs Preliminary & Categorical Tracks in IM - match17

Some programs have Medicine-Primary apart from Preliminary & Categorical..Did you all applied to 3 tracks in a given program or just applied to Preliminary & Categorical...what do you recommend to do

Do we also need to apply Primary track...what does it actually include...what is the difference between primary vs categorical in Internal Medicine.

I heard primary care track focus on outpatient medicine while categorical focus more inpatient.
