This is quite telling.

Seems there has been a departure from using very thorough/course based prep method, in this case Kaplan, to using compendiums like MTB. I have hardly come across any post or anyone who used kaplan and failed the Step 2 CK.

I took the test recently, and to me it seemed a test of "knowledge" or perhaps "concepts" that will be best refreshed and instilled by a review course such as Kaplan.

The MTBs are recalls and do little in helping one sharpen the acumen needed to make the best clinical choice compared to what you get when you watch the videos of Kaplan. MTB is memorizing aid while kaplan videos gives you concepts that will help you pick the right answer in those questions that are often described as "vague" or "not sure what was been asked" etc

Great insight there @spartanike! usmle step 2 ck score has been raised 4 times during this period to the current passing score of 209 and the average US/Canadian students are scoring 242
Pass rate for US/Canadian School students has remained nearly unchanged
