Steps to get a J1 visa in India - anesthesia17

Hello,

Does anyone has a list of steps required from offer letter to J1 visa for Indian nationals in India.
What I understand is below.

1- Sign an offer letter from the program
2- Program initiates a J1 visa process through ECFMG
3- Resident completes there part in Oasis for the J1 visa application.
4- Resident receives some document from ECFMG for visa to present to embassy.
5- Resident secures a Statement of need form Indian government
6- Resident schedules an appointment with the embassy
7- Resident also shows bank statements to show proof of financial stability. (How much fund does one need to show?)
8- Resident gets the visa after interview at the embassy.

Please correct/edit me if I am wrong or missing some information.

Hi I am also apply for J1 visa, I am in USA and changing my status to J1.
Can you suggest me how I should proceed.
