Im a FMG and my plan is to apply to surgery. Ive heard it is difficult to get in a good program if I dont have any experience in research. So Im trying to get something in research before applying. My question is: if I take step2 CK and CS on the first week of August, and get my LORS and something in research starting on August after these two exams, would I still be able to have a good chance for 2007 match, or Im just out of time, and should wait for 2008 match?
2. When it is late to apply?
3. How long is a research experience enough?, Is it a two or three month observer experience good or they dont consider it something serious?
4. Do the J1 visas for observers in research still require a two year period in your home country after finishing research?
I would be very grateful if you can guide through all these questions.
