I'm a USIMG with 22x on step 1. I don't know what to think of it. Any advice to where I am, and how I can improve my chances to match IM

That is a decent (matchable) score for IM if that is your first attempt. What you need to add to it is strong LORs in IM and a decent step 2 CK score. IM has so many applicants per position, filters are used often in the field to make things more manageable. So having step 1 and step 2 scores in early is important.

Best thing is to look at information published on the residency page of programs you are interested in. It can give you an idea if they are IMG friendly and a lot of them publish score they are looking for.

Focus on CK and pass CS on first attempt.

If possible do electives at ACGME programs.
