b-thalassemia - sao
#1
Mrs Smith is followed in the Hematology clinic for a b-thalassemia. Curiously, she has no family history for the disease. This historical datum has been verified by molecular data on many of her relatives.
As new Hematology Fellow, if you were to study and sequence her heterogenous nuclear RNA (hnRNA) that eventually codes for b-globin in the cytoplas you might find

A an altered proximal or distal exon-intron junction.
B a normal-length hnRNA transport
C the hnRNA coated with b-globin molecules.
D many modified bases in the hnRNA
E internally duplicated hnRNA
